February 13, 2023Keeping it simple appears to have become my catchphrase at work! I am not sure how that has happened, and it certainly makes my colleagues smirk every time I suggest “can’t we just keep this really simple?” I am not sure whether you can identify with this but so often I am in meetings and I have to ask myself “what exactly do we mean here?” and “what exactly are we asking others to do?”.
I think that it comes back to clear communication and when we are in the middle of a complex topic we can make assumptions that everyone around us understands what we are thinking. In my research managers made is so clear that what we want from HR professionals is clear, relevant information which is ideally personalised to them.
I am very interested in how we as HR professionals can keep communication simple and also strive to personalise it. My experience as a consumer is that my favourite brands communicate is a really simple and fun way and seem to “talk to me personally”. I am planning to research some examples of HR teams who have achieved this personalisation and to share any hints and tips I learn from them.
