My research into HR shared services led me into becoming a doctor in business
*During my career which spans over 25* years now, I have worked in variety of senior leadership roles in international HR Shared services and IT implementation. I set up and managed multiple HR Shared Services teams as well as overseeing many HR technology programmes!

As a result of all these projects, each with their own challenges, I was able to hone my skills in Project management, Change management, Process Improvement & Systems Implementation. I have always loved working on HR automation projects and continue to marvel and appreciate the amazing group of professionals who works in this often challenging and overlooked area.

In 2016 I decided to build on my corporate experience by undertaking research for a doctorate in Business at Southampton university. Being accepted for a doctorate was exciting and daunting in equal measure. I was keen to carry out original research in HR shared services. I was thrilled to be back in an academic setting surrounded by expert researchers with amazing insights and research skills.

Over a period of four and a half years on a part time basis I gathered data from over 260 managers across different industry sectors about how they viewed their HR services team and what elements of HR support were important to them.
.My graduation day was an amazing and emotional day (just to make you smile I have included my graduation picture on this page!). Since graduating as a doctor in business during the Summer of 2022, I have been working to write papers and a set of resources which I hope will help professionals working in the HR shared services and HR operations area.
